Export the new 3MF and check colours, scale and assembly in your slicer before printing.
Colours
Split the colours of a 3MF file into organised volumes
In multicolour 3D printing, every region has to reach the slicer as a part that can be assigned to the right filament. The tool recognises compatible colours in files created in Bambu Studio and OrcaSlicer and looks for connected regions of the model.
The result keeps the assembly intact and organises the volumes so filaments are easier to assign.
Assembly
Divide parts and keep every object in the download
With a linear cut, you can divide the model into successive parts and add a pin and socket when you need alignment. Every valid result stays as a separate object and should be included with the base and the other parts in the same download.
After several cuts, check the object list and the visual layout before exporting. The option to keep the original position preserves alignment; when it is turned off, the parts are spread apart and placed at Z = 0 to make inspection easier.
Colour selection
Isolate painted regions without merging disconnected areas
Colour selection starts from the triangle you pick, uses a small RGB tolerance and gathers fragments of the same object that genuinely touch. Clicking the selected region a second time clears the selection.
The split rebuilds the region as a solid and closes the boundary with the dominant edge colour. Open, inverted or non-manifold geometry that cannot be repaired safely is rejected, so you never get a file that looks valid but is unfit for slicing.
Formats
STL and 3MF do not store the same information
A standard STL file mainly describes the surface geometry and usually does not keep colours, assembly or filament assignments. That is why splitting colours from an STL may mean rebuilding the model as separate volumes.
Gestor 3D accepts 3MF in this tool because the format can hold volumes and colour information that are useful when preparing a multicolour print. The tool does not promise to recover colours that are not in the original file.
The file is processed in your browser and is not sent to the API. The backend only records monthly usage at the moment you download.
Common questions
Quick answers before you start.
How do I split the colours of a 3MF file?
Open the file in the 3MF splitter, check the detected regions, generate the volumes and confirm the filament assignments in Bambu Studio or OrcaSlicer.
Does the 3MF splitter work with STL files?
No. This tool takes 3MF files. A standard STL usually does not store the colours and assembly needed to split filaments automatically.
Is the file uploaded to a server?
No. Processing happens in your browser and the model stays on your device.
Is the result ready to print straight away?
The file is prepared so you can carry on working, but you should always open it in your slicer to check scale, colours, fits and print settings.
Can I make several cuts in the same model?
Yes. Every valid part should stay as an independent object and be included in the same exported 3MF file. Check the list and the positioning before downloading.
What happens when a coloured region cannot be closed?
The tool stops the unsafe split and advises you to review the area or repair the model, rather than knowingly exporting an open mesh.
